Clinician alert: recent mpox cases in Queensland

Queensland Health is actively monitoring recent linked cases of mpox notified in Queensland. Cases have occurred in southeast Queensland, but exposed individuals may now have traveled to other parts of the state.

Clinicians are encouraged to

  • Consider mpox in any person who presents with symptoms and test.
  • Discuss mpox vaccination with all eligible priority populations.
  • Follow-up people who have not had their second vaccination at least 28 days following their first vaccine.
