Smart Referrals

A paperless solution that is simple, integrated, and secure, allowing GPs to create and submit digital referrals to a Queensland Health facility.

Smart Referrals

Almost 2 million referrals are received by Queensland Health Services every year, most by post or fax. These may not get to the right place or may not include all of the information required to facilitate effective patient care. Queensland Health has created a paperless solution that is simple, integrated, and secure, allowing GPs to create and submit digital referrals to a Queensland Health facility.

Key Features

  1. Condition‑specific templates that auto-populate required test results from the patient's file in practice management software, ensuring nothing is missed, reducing double handling, and saving time.
  2. Easy attachment of documents from clinical software. The system can accept large files (up to 5 MB per file) and a variety of file types e.g., images, PDF, Word documents.
  3. Comprehensive service directory, listing locations where services are offered.
  4. Tracking and receiving of electronic updates into the practice management software about a referral's place in the continuum. The general practitioner can track and follow up a referral, ensuring it is not misplaced or duplicated.
  5. Integration with HealthPathways.

Register

  1. Complete registration form and sign the terms of access agreement.
  2. Install Smart Referrals in practice management software.
  3. Arrange Smart Referrals training and Go-Live.
